Offshore sportsbook 5Dimes announced this week it was closing its doors to US customers. But there were some hiccups with that move.
5Dimes has taken another step toward legitimacy, announcing it has been licensed in the Isle of Man. The move comes four months after reaching a deal with the US Department of Justice to stop. 5Dimes is known to have a massive database of players. Its owner, Sean 'Tony' Creighton was kidnapped and later found dead last year. Close to a dozen individuals were apprehended in connection to.
Multiple 5Dimes customers have since had their open futures bets and accounts transferred a more obscure offshore site called Betanysports.
The site layout, prices and bet options all look identical to 5Dimes. Review sites note betanysports is also based in Costa Rica and a “sister site” to 5Dimes.
As one Reddit user reported: “5D transferred my entire account over, and it went flawlessly. All account info, all pending bets, balance, etc…all transferred and looks exactly like 5d did.”
The simplicity of the migration suggests that 5Dimes and betanysports might run on the same platform. Migrations simply aren’t that easy otherwise.
Using the same platform doesn’t necessarily mean the companies are connected, but it does raise some questions.
Multiple Reddit and social media users also reported a straightforward switch and that betanysports was identical to 5Dimes.
What is going on behind the scenes at 5Dimes?
The company and customer service agents said there was no relationship between the two sites.
It’s also important to note not all customers were offered the chance to switch. Some bettors with massive +EV futures simply had them voided.Legal Sports Report also asked 5Dimes customer support for options for betting with the site closing off the US. No suggestion or offer to move was given. (The account also had no deposit history, for what it’s worth.)
There’s obviously a huge imbalance here in favor of the book. They’ve already collected on a lot of losing NHL and NBA futures. And now they can cancel the remaining live tickets.
That might explain why betanysports stopped accepting transfers on Tuesday, as some 2+2 users reported.
Bettors were also told that the minimum withdrawal amount on account balances was $100, causing more issues for smaller players.
How did we get here?
Remember, 5Dimes is closing US customers because it wants to relauchits operations with a “fresh start”. The company hinted it could be looking at the regulated market.
However, it declined to provide any details on how such a relaunch would work. One option laid out by Eilers & Krejcik analyst Chris Krafcikcould be the PokerStars route.
That is, some kind of settlement with the Department of Justice, then a sale of assets, like the brand and tech stack, to a third party.
That’s assuming the 5Dimes brand and tech has any value left, that is. Perhaps the most valuable asset is the database of US customers built over two decades.
Regardless of what’s really going on behind the scenes, the push for a 5Dimes rehabilitation and “fresh start,” hasn’t exactly started out promisingly.

Online casino players will also find here good deals like casino rebates and MatchPlay incentives. The following are the players’ top picks among all the promotion options offered by 5Dimes:
Reduced Juice Reward
When you sign up for an account on 5Dimes, you will have the default Reduced Juice Reward, unless you request to have the deposit bonus instead. With reduced juice, you risk less and win more. For instance, instead of wagering US$110 to win US$100 (which is the industry standard for sportsbook juice) on basketball or football, you will have to bet only US$105 to get the same US$100 win.
Oher games you can bet on with reduced juice include NCAA football, NFL, Canadian football, NCAA basketball, MLB, and Grand Slam Tennis, to name a few. To get the full list of the sports for which the Reduced Juice Reward is available, simply log in to your account, select Straight & RIF, and click Reduced under the sport you want to wager on. Just do not forget that each wager has a limit of US$500 reduced juice and is applicable to internet betting only.
50% Plus New Player Reward
If you would rather receive a welcome bonus than get any other bonuses, request that you be given the 50% Plus New Player Reward. Simply fill your account with US$100 to US$400 for the first time, make a deposit bonus request, and you will receive a 50% free-play reward up to US$200. If your first deposit is more than US$400 but not more than US$2,000, you will get an extra 20% free-play reward. Say your initial deposit is US$2,000; you will get a 50% reward of US$200 plus 20% more, for a total of US$520 in free-play rewards.
Remember that players outside North America can make a first deposit of only up to US$100. This means the maximum New Player Reward they can get is US$50. It is also important to note that this bonus is immiscible with other promos. This means that if you chose to have this reward, you would not be eligible for the other 5Dimes bonuses.
30% Super Saver Reward
When you choose this exclusive 30% Super Saver reward over other rewards, you get an instant 30% discount on lines offerings. This is the best reward to claim if you prefer parlay bets, as you get more parlay payouts. This deal is available for game spreads and game totals for college football and basketball, NHL hockey, MLB Baseball, boxing/MMA, and more.
Other promo options include Cash Back Rewards, Point Mover Special Reward Program, and Free Payout Rewards Program, among others. Visit the Rewards page of 5Dimes to know more details about these promos. After all, you will have to choose only one reward choice among all the options provided. So it is better if you know the details of each promo.

But this sportsbook does have its limitations. You do not get a promo code for a free bet, and the reduced juice reward is available for straight wager formats only. Despite these, 5Dimes still remains to be among the sportsbooks to beat, and thus a brand you should sign up for an account with.
